Press release by Meat.The End

The Israeli company Meat. The End signed a purchase agreement for an industrial extrusion line with a world leader in the production of industrial mechanization equipment. The deal is worth a total of 1.5 million euros. As part of the transaction, the first of its kind in the Israeli foodtech industry, the European company will provide technical assistance to the Meat. The End’s R&D efforts.

Extrusion is the primary technology that serves the meat substitute industry today. The extrusion device transforms various raw materials into a wide variety of final products through compression, mixing, cooking, shearing, heating, cooling, and shaping of the product as part of the same process. The technology has been widely used in the food industry for decades and produces hundreds of food products, including snacks, breakfast cereals, pet food, pasta, baby food, processed cheese, and more.

In recent years, food-tech companies have begun producing plant-based meat substitutes using devices of this type that mimic the appearance, taste, texture, and mouthfeel of meat, chicken, and seafood. Compared to many traditional processes, extrusion is more efficient, requires fewer resources such as energy and water, and, therefore, has a lower cost. The technology is also highly versatile, allowing the creation of multiple products in a single extruder or processing line. These benefits are critical to the technology’s future success in the alternative-protein industry.

Dr. Yishai Mishor, CEO and founder of Meat. The End: “The rapid growth of the world’s population has caused an increasing need for alternative-protein products, without relying on animal meat – which today is the most common source of protein in food. Global trends around consumers’ desire for healthy, convenient, high-quality, and sustainable food will drive the future demand for healthy food rich in fiber.

Extrusion technology has many diverse applications for food development. It holds the advantages of low cost, sustainable production, and flexibility in food products. The entire food industry is in a race for plant-based protein that can replace meat by providing a healthy, high-protein, cholesterol-free, and nutritious alternative.

This technology is expected to contribute dramatically to solving the problem of world hunger. In the protein world of tomorrow, whoever controls advanced extrusion techniques will control the raw materials in the market. Meat. The End is going in that direction. We are proud to be the only company to bring this development center to Israel and are sure that this is just the beginning.”

Meat. The End is an Israeli foodtech company established in 2020, that develops protein ingredients that transform the texture of alternative meat. Only recently, Meat. The End announced its first commercial deal with Burger King
